As part of South Australia’s History Festival which runs throughout the month of May, Anthony Presgrave led ‘Grave Stories from Goolwa Cemetery’ on Wednesday May 3.

The guided tour of the former Goolwa Cemetery (1854-1898) in which 405 plots were envisaged was highly successful, with twenty visitors participating in the tour.

Angela and Derek Bowman, as well as Kathy Sutton and Bob Williams from the Goolwa Branch of National Trust were present, with all visitors being impressed with Anthony’s research and preservation of the former cemetery.

Two attendees from Coonalpyn and Modbury sought an ancestor, James Rusher Hart, with Anthony showing where he was buried.

There is already a demand for a guided walk in 2024 with several folk unable to gain a ticket in 2023.
