Fundraising for SteamRanger

This March, volunteers from SteamRanger Heritage Railway have been very busy raising funds for the historical and iconic railway service.

They have held a sausage sizzle at Bunnings Victor Harbor to raise funds for the continuing restoration and maintenance of SteamRanger’s Brill railcars Number 43 and Number 60.

These Brill railcars were made by the South Australian Railways to an American design in 1928 and served both suburban and rural communities for 40 years.

“Brill Number 60 should be back in charter service later this year and we aim to have Brill Number 43 back in service for its 100th birthday,” a railway spokesperson said.

“Many thanks to Bunnings Victor Harbor for hosting SteamRanger’s sausage sizzle and we hope that this will be a regular fund raising event.”

SteamRanger welcomes new volunteers to train as station staff, onboard train attendants, track maintainers and skilled/unskilled trades people to be based at Goolwa.

Please check the SteamRanger website for contact details.
